To play in the EHF-cup and particularly in the group stage is a fantastic experience for the club! So far the results have been up and down for all teams, and the group is still wide open. The two best teams will reach the quarterfinals and from that stage try to qualify for the Final-4 in Berlin! After three rounds the favorite team of Hannover is in the bottom position. Who could have guessed that? There is still three rounds remaining and actually all four team’s still have the possibility to go through!
We greet the club and supporters of Csurgói KK to Sweden and Lund and will try our best to repay the hospitality shown to us in Hungary. The match in Hungary was won by the home team, and it was the first loss for LUGI in the group stage. Belarus-player Pukhouski was a real threat in the back line and Swedish handball lovers knows a lot about great Polish goal-keeper Wyszomirski who almost singlehandedly beat the Swedish national team in the Euro 2014 in Denmark. Actually playing teams from Hungary has become a specialty of ours since we played against Grundfos Tatabanya in the qualifying round. Handball is very big sport in Hungary and personally I have great memories of the silver winning national team of the 1986 world championships in Switzerland with legend like the Kovacs-brothers.
We are hoping that the home team is ready for this big task! We have big squad which s important when You play a lot of matches. I know that the team is looking forward to this match since we lost in Hungary. It’s going to be great match!
A special welcome to the Slovenian referees Jure Cvetko and Brstin Kavalar, and also to the EHF-delegate Ole Frydkjaer Petersen from Denmark.
Let’s play handball and as always cheer for our teams in a manner of great sportsmanship!
