To participate in the EHF-cup is a big responsibility and something that makes our club very proud. We have a long history in the European cup´s and one of the clubs aims is to travel a lot in the world of handball and be a part of the global handball world. The group stage of the EHF-cup is a massive experience for us and given the quality of the opponents it is really a test of how long our team has reached.
We are very happy to welcome Reale Ademar Leon to Lund and Sweden. It is a club with a fantastic history. Just two years ago they reached the ¼-finals of the Champions league and last year they reached the Last 16 in the same tournament. A tremendous achievement! A couple of years ago they won the Cup winners cup so it is a huge club coming to Lund! At this moment Ademar Leon is in 5:th position in the strong Spanish league. Ademar Leon is building a new team with young players but they have already proved that they can perform on a high level! They started the group phase of the EHF-cup with an impressive home win against Hungarian team Csurgoí KK , 28-19.
The home team of LUGI also has a great tradition in the European cups dating back to the 80´s. A semifinal encounter in 1985 versus CSKA Moscow in the highest European cup is the highlight and hopefully we can make some new history this season. Our team is in a good position mentally at the moment with some good results lately. The win in Hannover is probably one of the best results in the clubs history and now the players know that nothing is impossible. Anyway we must treat every match with great respect because the opponents are extremely difficult and more experienced!
I would also like to take the opportunity to deliver a special thanks to our new handball friend Antonio who has helped the two clubs make a great match experience! Also a special welcome to the referees Dzmitry Nabokau and Siarhei Kulik from Belarus and EHF-delegate Per Morten Södal from Norway!
Welcome to a European top match in Lund!
We are looking forward to a great match with great atmosphere!
